Recruitment and getting the word out.

Postby brooklynfan on Fri Aug 29, 2008 5:46 am

As most folks know, i'm not the best at networking and recruitment. Maybe its my shining personality, I dont know.

But what I do know is that there are others on here that are better at making connections and getting people in the door than I am.

I do want to get the word out, and I do want to see the forum grow so we can have more opinions and thoughts. I just dont know how to do it.

If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

Do what the Navy did and do a high-powered ad with a Disturbed song in the background.

I've noticed a lack of pretty shiny propaganda. Banners and image bars -- things that could be put in profiles on various sites as a clickable link to the forum.

I'll go play in photoshop now, and see what I can come up with...

I threw these together so everyone could see the sort of thing I was talking about, and go from there. If anyone wants to see anything spesific, smaller, bigger, a certain military or culture represented, just say so and I'll see what I can come up with.

Feedback? Concrit? Love 'em? Hate 'em?

Great job on those banners. I was gonna offer to make some too but you've surpassed my meager photoshop skills.

The HTML code for posting a picture is (img src =" ") with the picture's URL between the quotes and <and> instead of ( and ). (I had to do it that way so that the board wouldn't read it as a HTML tag, lol) Also, it may be a good idea to upload these to your own photobucket, because mine is getting pretty full, and I wouldn't want a bunch of broken images everywhere if I go over my bandwith.

www.photobucket.com <--- free and reliable.

I'm really quite flattered that everyone likes these -- they're fun and easy to do, actually... just some transparency 50%, stroke text and fancy brushes. Feel free to take them and use them as you like!

Oh, and I have a B&W variation of the NSDAP banner, and a non-distressed version of the Spartan banner, if anyone's inclined:

I threw together a few small text based ones for you guys.

The first one is my favorite. They aren't much compared to the earlier efforts but they are a bit more compact for smaller link spaces.

Where do i put the "and" ? I`m totally dumb and slow to learn HTML.
Could you do a working banner, as it should be put in a website and then i enter in your post and i copy it? heh sorry, i was like a year not knowing how to even do a cut in LJ, so you can imagine. Thanks

And nice banners Grey :D

If you make a photobucket account and upload pictures they will provide pre-done HTML code that you can copy/paste directly onto a website. This makes is really easy. Photobucket actually provides a lot of ready-made code that you can just copy places such as message board display code, direct links, and HTML. You just upload the image to your photobucket, copy the HTML code, and paste it wherever you want.

Photobucket is one of the better free services out there and I've never had a problem with it not being reliable.

Hey guys.

Those banners and buttons seriously look good. Thank you for making them.

And I have to say, that second one looks strangely familiar ;)

Fritzsch- id actually like to put one of them up as the main banner if that is ok. I think I will put it up to a vote.

So, which banner would everyone like to see up on MPL?
